Classic Cornbread
Ingredients
1 cup all purpose flour (120 grams)
1 cup cornmeal (120 grams)
1 tsp baking powder
½ tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
½ cup melted butter or 8 tbsp (114 grams)
½ cup granulated sugar (100 grams)
2 tbsp honey
1 large egg
1 cup buttermilk (240 ml)
Instructions

Preheat the oven to 400 F. Grease an 8 x 8 baking pan or an 8 inch cast iron pan with butter.
In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cornmeal, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the melted butter, sugar, and honey until it forms a thick paste. Then add in the egg and mix well. Finally, add in the buttermilk and mix well. Pour the wet mixture into the dry mixture and mix until well combined, but don’t overmix. Pour the batter into the prepared baking vessel.
Bake for 18-25 minutes, or until the corn bread is golden brown, and a toothpick comes out clean.
